For Dreadlocks &
Permanent Lokk Extensions
-
If you’re wanting to have your hair dreaded we recommend having at least 4-6 inches of hair to create strong holding dreadlocks. If you’re wanting to have extensions attached, you’ll need a minimum of 5 inches to ensure your hair can hold the extensions properly.

When creating or maintaining dreadlocks, I use a gentle crochet hook method. The technique is gentle on the hair and scalp, and doesn't involve any harsh chemicals or waxes. It is designed to create strong healthy dreadlocks for all hair types, while also being a comfortable, pain free, experience!

Install appointment times will vary depending on your hair type, length, and desired style. Installing your hair into permanent dreadlocks styles can take 1-4 hours for partials and 4-10 hours for full head installs. If you wish to have dreadlocks installed please book in for a free face-to-face consultation first. This way we can discuss exactly what you’re after and give you a personalised quote for time/price.

When you first get your dreadlocks installed you will have what we call baby Lokks. Depending on your hair type, baby Lokks take 3-6 months to become teenagers, and 1-2 years to fully mature. Don’t be disheartened if they are fluffy, messy and stubborn during this time, let them do their thing! We all went through our teenage years before becoming somewhat mature put-together adults!
My golden rule during the time… Less is more so leave them be! -
After having new dreadlocks installed, I recommend booking a follow up appointment around 1-2 months after the install to check they are settling in and forming well.
After that you’ll only need maintenance every 3-4 months to keep them growing neat and strong.
I recommend washing your lokks 1-2 days before your appointment, so the maintenance has time to settle in before you wash your hair again.

Dreadlocks can be washed like you would your normal hair. Shampoo your scalp and lokks, then rinse thoroughly. Wash your hair on a sunny day in the morning, and avoid sleeping with wet lokks as it can cause unwanted damage and problems.
I recommend washing your lokks every 2 weeks and doing a cleanse at least every 6-12 months.

A dreadlock cleanse uses apple cider vinegar (ACV) and bicarbonate soda (Bicarb) to lift and remove any build up that might be stuck in your lokks. They can also include ingredients like essential oils to make your lokk smell nice and refreshed!
You can purchase ready-made ones or make them yourself at home! There’s plenty of tutorials online, however reach out if you’d like a copy of my diy recipe!
